Ryedale Festival is coming to Ripon Cathedral with a programme that includes includes Elgar’s Enigma Variations. The festival welcomes outstanding performers from all over the world to perform a wide-ranging and distinctive programme in the many spectacular venues in and around Ryedale.

An evening of English orchestral music in the uplifting surroundings of Ripon Cathedral. A spirited overture by Vaughan Williams sets the stage, leading to the world premiere of Philip Wilby’s orchestration of Bliss’s Viola Concerto, performed by the acclaimed Timothy Ridout. Coleridge-Taylor’s radiant and moving Solemn Prelude, long forgotten and recently rediscovered, offers a moment of poignant beauty before Elgar’s beloved Enigma Variations brings the concert to a triumphant and deeply personal close.
