Ripon Cathedral is a stunning sacred space which attracts over 100,000 visitors annually from far and wide. The building is a holy place of worship, a place of prayer and contemplation, a centre for learning and an important gathering place for a host of events.
It costs over £4000 a day to run the regular services, the choral music programme, education and community events. Your support is vital to ensure the sustainability of the cathedral now and for the future.

All gifts are gratefully received, and you can choose to support the area of cathedral life that means the most to you in a number of ways, whether as an individual, a family, a trust or a business.
The cathedral’s long history stretches back to the Anglo-Saxon period and houses some irreplaceable buildings and artefacts, from the 7th century Anglo-Saxon crypt to the Ripon Jewel. Your support will ensure the building’s remarkable 1,350-years is conserved for future generations.
In 2022, the cathedral invested £190,000 on restoration and repairs.
Saint Wilfrid brought Benedictine sacred music and plainchant to Ripon in the seventh century. With your help, we will be able to continue to train new young musicians in Ripon Cathedral Choir and fill this ancient place with beautiful music for years to come.
The chorister training programme costs in the region of £300,000 a year to run.
Help to enrich minds by supporting Ripon Cathedral’s full and varied education programme. The small team welcomes schools, hold tours, talks, workshops and art classes for all age groups.
In 2022, 1,000 school children attended the cathedral workshops and a further 1,500 joined self-led tours.
The support of our patrons is vital to maintain the daily life of the cathedral and help us plan for the future.
Could you be our next patron? Our patrons programme starts from £17 per month with patrons accessing unique events, services and exhibitions throughout the year.
If you would like to support the cathedral and ensure it is here for future generations to enjoy, please consider leaving us a gift in your will.
Your gift will help support anything from our education programme, choral development or helping with our heritage conservation.
You can also sponsor a week of music in memory or celebration of a loved one.
