Elgar Cello Concerto with British Police Symphony Orchestra
For one night only, the British Police Symphony Orchestra’s Musical Director switches his baton for his cello. Dr Richard Jenkinson, a member of the Dante String Quartet and previously the principal cellist of the CBSO, gets to face the audience and perform the stunning Elgar Cello Concert as the opener to the BPSO’s first concert in the beautiful cathedral.
With guest conductor Malcolm Webb quite literally picking up the baton, the award-winning BPSO provides the accompaniment to what is one of the most famous and loved pieces of English orchestral music.
The orchestra will also be performing the ballet music from Holst’s comic opera The Perfect Fool and, Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture, finishing with Respighi’s Pines of Rome.
