Plough Sunday Service
Ripon Cathedral is pleased that the Archbishop of York, the Rt Hon and Most Revd Stephen Cottrell will be preaching at the Plough Sunday Service on Sunday January 11 at 3.30pm, held in partnership with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
This is an occasion when people from across the farming community gather at the cathedral for the traditional blessing of a plough ready for the new season of sowing. Whether you still use a plough or follow regenerative farming practices, this is an occasion for everyone who harnesses the growing potential of the land. There will be a display of tractors and ploughs on the cathedral’s forecourt as well as Field Nurse trailer offering medical checkups without the need to make an appointment or leave the farm.
Pork rolls will be served in the Cathedral from 2.30pm onwards, for which we are very grateful to the YAS.
