Easter Day Eucharist
Ripon Cathedral’s main Easter Day Eucharist will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, as we share the good news of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As a public service broadcaster, the BBC helps enable people worldwide to share in this act of worship – including those unable to attend church in person.
On Easter Day the Festal Eucharist will begin at 10.00am (rather than 10.30am), as BBC coverage will transfer to Rome at 11.00am for the Pope’s traditional Easter blessing from St Peter’s Basilica.
Alongside this, there will be an Informal Easter Communion at 9.30am at Thorpe Prebend House, led by Canon Wendy and the Children’s Church Team. This family-friendly service will include games, craft, storytelling, songs, and an Easter egg hunt, with the option to join the conclusion of the cathedral service for a final blessing from the Dean. This gathering is aimed at children aged 0–12 and their parents/carers. Please note that on this occasion, one adult must remain with each family group throughout.
The 10 am Festal Eucharist will be ticketed.
The central nave has been allocated to our regular member of our Sunday morning congregations and choir families. There will be some additional seating in the aisles and in the quire where the live broadcast will be shown on screens. Please reserve your tickets via the ticket link below
Because this is a live broadcast, there will be some time constraints. During the televised service, numbers able to receive Holy Communion will be limited. However, all who wish to receive will be warmly invited to do so immediately after the broadcast concludes, when the service will continue.
Non-ticketed services on Easter Day
8am BCP Eucharist – this will take place in the Chapel of the Resurrection.
9.30am Morning Prayer – this will not take place.
12.30pm BCP Eucharist – in the Chapel of the Resurrection
3.30pm Festal Evensong – this will take place as usual in the nave.
We look forward to this joyful Easter celebration and to sharing it with you!

*We are holding an open-sing rehearsal on Friday March 27, 6.30pm – 7pm in the nave, led by Director of Music, Dr Ronny Krippner. We encourage anyone attending the service to take this opportunity to familiarise yourself with the hymns so that you can fully participate in the service.
