Journey Through Britain’s Choral Heritage
The evening opens with the majesty and solemnity befitting one of England’s oldest and most cherished cathedrals. The renowned Ripon Cathedral Choir will fill the ancient stone vaults with the timeless sounds of our greatest cathedral composers. Experience the grandeur of Handel’s coronation anthem “Zadok the Priest” and Parry’s exquisite sacred works that have defined the quintessential sound of Anglican worship for generations.
Britannia in Full Voice
The second half will lift spirits with a more light-hearted celebration of our musical heritage. The choir will present stirring performances of Elgar’s “Land of Hope and Glory” and Blake’s “Jerusalem” that will warm the heart of every patriot.
The evening takes a playful turn with reimagined choral arrangements of beloved themes from “The Vicar of Dibley” and “Mr. Bean,” showcasing the choir’s versatility and wit. The lay clerks will transport you to the 1930s with their close harmony renditions in true British tradition.
