Celebrating Eco Church Awards in the Diocese of Leeds in Ripon Cathedral
Ripon Cathedral is holding an exhibition, from 2nd to 29th September, to showcase how churches in the Diocese are working to care for our natural world by joining the Eco Church Award scheme.
The exhibition will highlight the first church to achieve a Gold Eco Church Award – St Mary’s Embsay with Eastby. It will also show examples of churches with bronze and silver awards.
Ripon, Bradfield and Wakefield Cathedrals will tell their Eco journey stories.
In 2022, the Church of England declared the aim of achieving Net Zero Carbon 2030.
The Eco Award Scheme helps churches to take action in five areas – Worship, Buildings, Land and Biodiversity, Community and Global and Individual Lifestyle.
There are 86 churches and two cathedrals with Eco Church Awards in the Diocese of Leeds and this is a chance to see, and be inspired by, the work of some of them.
We hope to see you in Ripon Cathedral in September.
