Ripon Cathedral Choir has launched its Christmas CD, packed with festive favourites.

It comes hot on the heels of the choir’s tour of Germany, where it was met with standing ovations and acclaim from the German media.

The choir is currently enjoying a real renaissance, under the leadership of Director of Music Dr Ronny Krippner. Post pandemic the boys’ choir had folded and with dwindling numbers in the girls’ choir, the boys and girls were singing services together. However following three successful recruitment drives there are now 31 girl choristers, 30 boy choristers and 12 teenage choral/organ scholars – all from schools in the region

This summer saw a tour of Bavaria, taking in a number of locations including Munich Cathedral, Waldsassen Basilica, Nuremberg Frauenkirche and Regensberg Cathedral.

The fundraising CD was launched following the beautiful service of Festal Evensong on Sunday (September 29) sung by the lay clerks, choral scholars and girl choristers of Ripon Cathedral Choir.

Well over 100 CDs flew off the shelves following the launch, but there are plenty more available in the cathedral shop! If you are unable to visit the Cathedral Shop the choir’s Christmas CD can be ordered by contacting shopmanager@riponcathedral.org.uk
