Cathedral
‘…the opportunity to place Ripon Cathedral on a sustainable financial footing is a significant public benefit… this should be considered alongside other public benefits such as the sustaining of the Ripon choral tradition, the attraction of visitors to the cathedral and city, and the provision of community facilities.’

An update on
Ripon Cathedral Renewed
Revised plans have been submitted for an annex to house a song school, public toilets and storage along with a cathedral shop and refectory.
These revisions see the veteran Beech tree protected by altering the building’s shape and relocating part of it to the stonemason’s yard.
The new plan, which will deliver all of the cathedral’s requirements, was developed based on feedback during a consultation period earlier this year. It will allow us to continue to fulfill our mission, guarantee financial sustainability and protect the heritage and fabric of the cathedral.
Below is a series of visuals illustrating the amendments.
