October is a special time at Ripon Cathedral as we celebrate St Wilfrid, the cathedral’s founding patron saint – who built his church on this site in 672.
From elegant dining in a star-lit nave to family friendly events, this year’s programme showcases cathedral life in all its fullness.
On Friday October 9 experience an unforgettable evening in the 15th Century nave of Ripon Cathedral with live music and dancing in the unique atmosphere of this sacred space, stunningly illuminated for the occasion. The evening includes a sparkling reception and a delicious three-course dinner with money raised helping fund the cathedral’s mission, music, heritage conservation and education programme.
Ripon Cathedral has been a sacred place of worship and service for more than 1,350 years with a world-class choral tradition at its heart.
The beautiful service of choral evensong on Saturday October 10 and our Patronal Eucharist (Service of Holy Communion) on Sunday October 11 see a choir of over 100 voices as its alumni gather to celebrate St Wilfrid.
There is truly something for everyone this autumn! On Friday October 23 we are offering two Silent Discos; set against the backdrop of centuries of history, guests can choose from multiple music channels while experiencing the cathedral in a very different way. Rounding off St Wilfrid’s Month will be an evening of live music as The Rozzers, Europe’s most authentic tribute to Sting and The Police take to the stage.
Tickets are available on our website; proceeds from these events help Ripon Cathedral’s mission to serve the people and communities of North Yorkshire and the Diocese of Leeds and the region.
