Sunday was a day of celebration which saw the installation of the new Mayor of Ripon, Cllr Andrew Williams.
Cllr Williams was placed in the stall assigned to the mayor in the cathedral’s Medieval quire by Dean John, as we asked for God’s blessing on our council and the city.
We were delighted that members of 21 Engineer Regiment joined us for this civic service, having exercised their Freedom of the City – a long-standing tradition which saw the soldiers march through the Market Square with bayonets fixed and standards flying, accompanied by the Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers.
