Ripon’s Summer Chorale Finale was a great success on Saturday, with a standing ovation for our acclaimed choir.

After a welcome by Dean John the progamme took the audience from I was Glad by Sir Hubert Parry, composed for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902 – to ELO’s Mr Blue Sky and Irving Berlin’s Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Highlights also included Walton The Twelve and the theme to The Vicar of Dibley, ably brought to a conclusion by our five youngest girl choristers (pictured).

Under Director of Music Dr Ronny Krippner Ripon Cathedral Choir has gone from strength to strength with two recent CDs under its belt and broadcasts this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and BBC Radio 3, not to mention a tour of Germany and a residency at Westminster Abbey.

The choir will return to help lead our worship in September.
