Dean John was delighted to welcome and install Mr Tom Fielden as the cathedral’s new Canon Treasurer and Bishop Malcolm Chamberlain,The Rev Dr Alan Garrow and The Rev Darryl Hall as Honorary Canons.

A great celebration of rural life took place at our annual Plough Sunday Service, in partnership with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society – with an address by the Archbishop of York.

The position at the North’s top-performing state school – the first in living memory –  is being offered to a gifted young musician with a passion for the organ who will receive world class organ tuition by the cathedral’s acclaimed musicians.

The Famous Annual Candlemas service at Ripon Cathedral is taking place on Saturday January 31 at 5.30pm.

The cathedral will be lit by thousands of candles as we celebrate the light of Christ conquering the world’s darkness. The cathedral choir will lead the worship and during the service the congregation will be invited to process around the church with their own candles.
