London School Symphony Orchestra

London’s youth orchestra head to Yorkshire on their summer tour to perform an inspiring programme of music. Moving from places physical to places imagined, Sibelius’s powerful homage to his homeland ‘Finlandia’ precedes Lyadov’s impressionist fairytale symphonic poem ‘The Enchanted Lake’. The centre piece, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 has left many young musicians with a profound and moving experience as performers.

Managed by the Centre for Young Musicians and part of the Guildhall Young Artists network, the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO) is London’s premier youth orchestra. The LSSO has a prestigious history of over 70 years, nurturing young musical talent and providing exceptional orchestral training for young musicians aged 13-19.
